IndyCar Series any good?

Is the game a big step up from the demo? I thought the demo sucked!

I couldn't get my Logitech wheel to work at all and it works with
about 6 or 7 other driving games perfectly fine!

And the mirrors thing! no mirrors?? duh! The graphics looked dated too....

Anyway I seriously doubt if I'll part with my money for this thing
but I was wondering about the your views of the game if you've already
picked it up.

Well, anyone's views of the game are going to seem immaterial when you are
already biased and also state that you would hardly be likely to buy it.

So in that case, why would anyone bother to take the time to give you

OK, then.  Let me chime in here.  I was going to ask basically the same
question, but I didn't try the demo, so I'm not biased (yet)  8-).

What do people think of this game?  I still have IRL Heat on my hard drive
(shh.....).  Can anyone offer a comparison between the two?

Thanks!

Geeeeez dude! I posted so I could get some opinions of people who have
the game.

If you have the game you could have given me an answer instead of this
reply......

Hey, JZach....

I haven't found the game yet (live in Des Moines, IA), but, here's a link
that might give you some help...

I'll let you know how I think the game is when I get it...

I respect other peoples opinions, but this review was cleary -not-
written by a simracer. Just download the demo and try it for yourself
before spending money on another desillusion.

Well, the OP already said that he thought the demo sucked, so I guess his
decision is easy...<g>

IndyCar Series any good?

IndyCar Series is one of those games.... one the one hand there is a very
real sense of speed/danger and it really requires one to be smooth and
precise to get around the track quickly. On the other hand if the full game
is like the demo it doesn't do itself any favours with the absense of
mirrors (confirmed as not included in the full game), the canned pitstops,
the fairly unpredictable AI and limited setup options.

The only real gripe I have with it on the driving front is, for the
precision and consistency in driving this game requires, I was not able to
dial in the kind of immediacity in control and feedback such precision and
consistency requires.

The most important question here is "Does it have a
clockwise/anticlockwise mode ie one lap clockwise then the next lap
anticlockwise. Otherwise you just get too giddy DAMN IT!

Pretty accurate review over at GCM

http://www.gamechronicles.com/reviews/pc/indycar/series.htm

Seems the reviewer has some experience racing real cars and has played
a LOT of games so I'll take his word on this.

"IndyCar Series does a remarkable job of simulating just about every
aspect of the IndyCar season and the world famous Indianapolis 500
right up to the point where you get behind the wheel. The car setup,
the schedules, the teams, the racers, everything is perfect and you
wont find a more authentic presentation of IndyCar racing - just
don't drive this out of pit row."

- Yup, very accurate review.

IndyCar Series any good?

Apart from the facts that (a) adjusting the car balance from within the
***pit has negligible effect and (b) the car has the most astounding grip
I've ever come across (it's impossible to spin the car anywhere other than
the pit entrance and exit lanes), I like the game.m It is, in a word, 'fun'
and as the game-state saves when you pit under caution then it's nice to be
able to run a full-length race for once; the first time since NASCAR Racing
#3 (or NASCAR Legends).

So as all reviews are subjective, my opinions have the same value as those
of any reviewer. :)

Bruce.

Huh??  Impossible to spin the car??  I must be doing something wrong,
then, because I can't complete a lap anywhere WITHOUT spinning the car!

Well, it appears I may have been a little hasty with the above message -
I can complete laps without spinning the car, but what I can't do is
complete a lap without drifting up into the wall!  (Is that understeer,
or oversteer)?  And, how do I correct it?

Bob
