I was thinking that since that since everybody was doing modern F1 sims
(2000, 2001) and that they would end up being very similar, it would be
a good idea to do something very different. Why not a F1 simulation that
goes from 1970 all the way to the late 80's? A career mode would allow
you to start in 1970 and after finishing that season, you go to the 1971
season. The cars of that era were fantastic and the license might be a
lot cheaper than a 2001 season license.

It's difficult (and expensive) enough researching and developing tracks and
car models for a single season. The amount of effort involved in doing the
same for 20+ seasons would be staggering. Add to that the problems of
accurately modeling not only mechanical grip and aerodynamic grip, but also
the ground-breaking innovations of ground-effects and the turbo era and
you're looking at a truly massive undertaking.
