3d card question???

by dav.. » Tue, 24 Dec 1996 04:00:00

I am considering a 3d card for my P100 w /16 megs EDO ram on a triton
MB. Would the Reactor card work in my system or is it too slow to
really benefit? Will I still be able to use the card it if I somehow
manage to upgrade to a P6 w/ a new MB?  Is this a good card or should
I look at somthing else?
thanks for and info...

3d card question???

I would say an Intergraph Reactor 3D card.  However, if you have an older
pentium motherboard it may not work.  Also, they do not yet have a Windows
NT driver - although are promising one in early 1997.

Why do you want a 3d card ?  If its to run racing sims - then the only real
choice is a Rendition based 3d card - since no others are supported by any
of Papyrus's sims.  I do not think that GP2 has any 3D card support.
Intergraph does have a 14 day no questions asked return policy - so you can
buy it and return it if your motherboard will not run it in the fast dma
mode (it is really slow in non-dma mode).  The price is $150 through the
end of the months - not bad considering it comes with some games (including
the Rendition enhanced version of indycard II) and 4 meg of EDO memory.

By the way - it does not appear to work in my SuperMicro 55CMS motherboard
in fast dma mode.  I am considering a newer motherboard or using the 14 day
money back deal.

Good luck.  /THansen
