I have a Pentium Pro 200 32mb ram and a Matrox Millenium w/4mb.

My question is when I turn off all the graphics, everything is much
smoother. What do you have to have to have the smoothness with all the
graphics on?

TIA,
Scott

also getting your self another 32mb makes a huge!! difference. also if
you dont have a rendition, there is supposed to be a 3dfx (glide) patch
coming out a little afetr christmas. also with no rend. run in dos, not
win95, much faster. i have same system as you and i just turn off
"people" and have "trees" on auto to see when and where on what tracks
my frame rate drops below max (30) and it rairly does.

I'd recommend a rendition video card. Sierra Screamin 3d, Intense 3d,
Canopus Total 3d are all good cards, at reasonable prices. The second
generation rendition cards are hitting the streets now, but you'll be able
to run with all graphics on with any of the originals.

rendition has every thing to do with it. id buy one just for nascar2 but
seeing as how i already have a 3dfx card, im going to wait to see what
happens with the patch that is supposed to be coming out.

I have the same setup...pp200 32mb Matrox Millenium w/4mb...   I can turn
all details on including all cars in front and behind.  It's as smooth as
glass like that...   Maybe it's because I have a dell? i dunno.

You _should_ be able to run N2 perfectly fluid with all details with that
combination. Are you running Fastvid (speeds up PPro graphics)? If not
check out http://web.inter.nl.net/hcc/FastVid/index2.html - the
performance gains are remarkable!

Wrong, another 32mb will do nothing except give you a longer replay.

well i dont know how im "wrong" as you put it.  because my frames per
minute did go up and was much smoother when playing nascar2 in windows
after i put in another 32 mb's. cant tell in dos cause its already
running at 30 fps.  and yes, replays are much longer.

Nascar 2 is a DOS only game, it runs through a DOS box in Win95 but is still
a DOS game.  Perhaps N3 will be a Win98 native game :)

thanks. i know n2 is a dos only game. when i say "in windows", that is
what i mean, in a windows dos box. i take it for granted that everyone
knows that n2 must be played in a dos box not true win95.
