Nascar2 seems to run for me under DOS or Win95.  Wondering if
performance is better under DOS or Win95.  I can't see a difference
but I have not done any testing on frame rates.

Any opinions??

In my case I have set up an icon to drop me (reboot) me into DOS to run
N2.  For me N2 runs 100% better in DOS mode.  In Win95 even with all
graphics turned off it is to skippy to handle.  I'm not up to the Pentium
(yet) so I'm sure that has much to do with it.  I'm running a 100mhz/486,
16meg ram, stealth 1meg video, T2, SB16.  Not a super system but it's
better than nuthin!

It is 100% better in DOS.  In fact I am unable to control my car well in
Win95 (action is not smooth).  I can do much better in DOS.

If you are running a fast machine there is no big difference between
running in Win95 or in a DOS only session.  When in Win95 - you will
occasionally see a skip caused by Windows 95 pinging a device such as the
CD-ROM drive - typically checking for a new CD installed so it can perform
auto-run (by the way - auto-run can be disabled to prevent this).  Also,
Win95 with networking will occasionally service from network traffic
causing a slight pause.  If you have a network device that is not correctly
configured - Windows 95 will sometimes take really long pauses to do
retries and such.  In general, I run under Win95 when testing and doing
unimportant stuff.  I run in a DOS only session for actual racing.

The only thing I've noticed is that if you run from Win95, make sure
you shut off findfast. It's a MS Office program that can eat up memory
and cause frame freezing. Now if Only my Pentium 133 could run N2
faster!!
