should I buy a refurbished Formula Force?

I've found a refurbished Logitech Wingman Formula Force--not
the newer GP, the original. It comes with a manufacturer's
warranty. But still, it's refurbished. Has anyone had
any good or bad experiences with refurbished controls?
Should they be avoided?

I'm delighted with mine.  They're getting harder and harder to find.
I'd recommend going for it!

Remember, a refurbished unit has probably had the personal attention
of a technically trained individual who had to got through it and make
sure everything was correct.  A new one off the assembly line was
assembled by a non-technical person and quickly Q.C'd on a testing
machine to see if it was working or not, then shipped.

That's an interesting way to look at it.  I never thought of that before...

I'll second that opinion - when my Logi dropped it's cable, the refurbished
one that they sent me as a replacement was noticably better, smoother, with
some of the more subtle FF effects in GPL coming through.

: I've found a refurbished Logitech Wingman Formula Force--not
: the newer GP, the original.

After living with the GP for a while and hearing the comments about the
original I'd jump at a chance to get a "as new" original LWFF.

I find the gear drive annoying and there's a bit of play in my wheel
(actually in the gears) now that dulls any fine FF effects.

It's an auction site: ubid.com. I lost bidding for a new one (open box) the
other day on ebay. There are two refurbished wheels available at uBid. The
auction closes in less than 4 hours.

I can't say who is doing the work, but I got my LWFF two years ago..it was
refurbished and it hasn't skipped a beat for the zillions of virtual miles
I've put on it.
Often...NOT ALWAYS mind you, but often, the refurbs are built better than
the
assembly line products because you have one person putting the unit right as
opposed
to a bunch of folks racing to get a few parts installed before the
Supervisor starts pacing near their workstation.

It's true. Think about it. Most electronic/computer components are reliable.
If a unit does fail and is repaired, the chance of something happening is
less than a new unit. I never hesitate to by a "factory refurbished" item.
