I have an annoying stutter every 8 seconds for about a quarter of a
second....enough to ruin my enjoyment :(

Has anyone any advice on the matter...?

Specs:-

XP2800+ well cooled
1GB pc2700 ram
9600 Pro (various drivers used now, currently using latest Omegas with no
improvement)
SBLive 5.1
A7V8X mobo with latest Via drivers

i have tried all the levels on the sound hardware settings..some were even
worse but still no altering of the stuttering.

ALL background activity off...

Its just weird that it is every 8 seconds...and i have driven Toca Race
Driver 2 today that now does the same stuttering every 8
seconds...previously that game did it for the first lap of any track and
then stopped...like it was getting the track into its cache and then it was
ok from then on.....

Page file is 1536mb....1.5 times ram..

If any other info is required i am happy to give it.

Please help

Had the same prob here.  In the RichardBurnsRally.ini file, change the
line ""WaitRetrace" from true to false.  Found this on High Gear
Forums as a way to eliminate stuttering and improve framerate.

I had a similar thing in lfs recently and updated my 'computer' drivers
under device manager from acpi to 'advanced configuration and power
interface'.  No, it doesn't make sense, yes, it was definately the fix
:)
