Concerning tires, why does the practice/qualifying sessions start you
out with the first set of race tires (r1)?  this makes no sense.  I
would think that qualifying would start you out with the set of tires
that there is almost no chance of using during a race, r4.  Which brings
me to my second question, why is r4 not accessable in qualifying?

Also, I can't get the pause button p to work.  when I hit p nothing
happens.  If I press Esc then the game goes to the other screen, so I
press resume and then the race screen appears, with the race paused, but
I can't unpause it because the pause button dosen't work.  Not being
able to pause a race is not practical for anything longet than 10% race.

        Please post reply THANX.

You have seven sets of tires, three for qualifying and four for racing.
When
you get to select what set you want to use, you'll see two rows. The three
sets on top are for qualifying and the four sets on the bottom are for the
race.

Try hitting the space bar instead of P to pause the game.

If you will refer to page vii of the Technical Supplement in the front
of your manual, you will see that P is not the correct pause key if
you are using a joystick or wheel...

You DO have your manual, right???

The 00 above r1, r2, and r3 do not describe those tires, but are separate
sets
of tires.  You can use the joystick to cycle between all seven sets.  I
thought the same thing for about a month.  Really was annoying.

You could try the space bar instead of p.
