Anyone answer my GP2 Questions?

Finally, I have got GP2 and I am delighted with it. Well worth the wait.
I do, however, have a couple of questions that I would like answering -

1. What is 'Opposite Lock Help' in the Control Method menu, and do I
want it on or off?

2. What is the best set-up for a Thrustmaster T2 with respect to
sensitivity settings etc.?

3. When racing a scaled down race (i.e. less than 100% race distance),
is my fuel tank scaled down as well? What I am driving at is that if the
race only lasts 18 laps, do I still need to pit for fuel? And will the
other drivers pit for fuel?

4. Is there a (safe) way to overclock my P133!!! My m/b has a
synthesizer good for up to 200MHz, and I really could do with a bit more
processing power to get the most out of this superb simulation. I have
read somewhere that P133 chips shouldn't be overclocked due to the
multiplier or something - is this true?

5. Anyone else noticed that no-one has turned up to watch the race at
Hockenheim? The stands are all empty!

TIA,

Paul.

Emmm....dunno! :)  I've always played with it off, simply because I
turned off all the driving aids when I installed it, and they've
remained off ever since.

I'm using a TSW :-

Wheel lock        : 20
Dead Zone         : 25%
Reduce with speed : 65%

Again, these have been like that for ages, and I should really play with
them a bit. Those are very easy to drive, and more lock is needed
especially at Monaco and Aida.

It depends upon the race strategy you setup. Look in the options from
the main menu, and pick "choose strategy at start of race" instead of
automatic. The CCs all run their own strategies, all different.

No, a P-133 is great to overclock. Mine is working away at 200Mhz just
now while I'm writing this :)  Look in Sim Racing News for lots of info
(June issue).

Cheers!
John

I know it`s a bit off topic but with regards to GP2 how much Mhz do
you think I could over clock my P120 to?

133Mhz is a good number - not going crazy, but a nice speed increase and
gives you a 66Mhz motherboard instead of 60Mhz.

Cheers!

I can't help you on these but I did find one thing a little interesting...

I sure hope this doesn't mean "steering help" in the GP1 sense. If GP2
has the same steering behavior as GP1 with help off, I'll pass.

I'm not sure why you would need opposite lock help anyway unless it is
for keyboard users. Any steering help should be unnecessary for a
steering wheel or most joysticks.

Hi Dan,

Not at all - GP2 with steering help off is the ONLY way to play if you
have a joystick or wheel! It is really great, a million miles from F1GP,
and more akin to the steering of ICR2.

The reason opposite lock help is required I think is more to do with the
way an F1 car handles - when grip goes it doesn't go gradually. It's
just......GONE! With a fairly forgiving setup I have caught the odd
powerslide or snap oversteer, but with a twitchy qualifying setup it's
nothing short of miraculous to catch the car on opposite lock.

I suspect the opposite lock help gives a bit of a hand with that, but
I've never tried it since I'm racing with all help off (well, trying
to!). Anyone had experience of opposite lock help and can comment?

Cheers!
John
