Will there ever be a PC/Win95 version of Gran Turisimo?
If not, I'll have to buy a Playstation :-)

The graphics is stunning, but I do believe that the
latest developments of 3D cards should make it possible
to port the game to the PC platform.

The physics are also very good. It was written in a way that would
support an easy port to PC but it won't be done because Sony, who still
have a stake in the product, won't allow it.

I hope so, it looks quite good.  I haven't been able to have a go yet
but have had people ranting and raving about it to me for a couple of
weeks now, hope it lives up to the hipe when I finally get a go.

That's what I did!

Well, this time rrevved and I agree.

PSX w/dual shock = $130, game = $40, I bought the Interact UltraRacer
hand-held controller which includes a 2" dia wheel, analog throttle trigger,
analog brake button for $35.  Total = $205.  I tried the Interact V3 wheel and
just didn't like it.  Then again, I haven't liked any PC wheel either.  Yeah,
it's significant money for one game, but what the hell...

Obviously, I agree.  I rented it before purchasing.  Suggest you go to
Blockbuster or equiv and do the same.  The physics, though perhaps a bit
exaggerated, is excellent.  The racing is pretty arcadish.

Ever since I got it, my ICR2 times have improved, but I've become completely
inept at F1RS.  Coincidence?  Hmmm...

There are some guys trying to make a psx emulator. They've said they had
success with some games including Colin McRae Rally ,but not yet with
Gran Turismo. You can check at :

Just pointing out that he didn't buy what he wanted. He probably
would've preffered a PC copy, but Sony would prefer you to go out and buy a
PSX, just for that game. So yeah, he got what he wanted, Gran Turismo, but
also ended up paying WAY too much money for it......

You still bought a reasonably expensive piece of equipment, just to play one
game!

Well at least he wont have to worry about buying anything else when GT2 comes
out.  Unlike us folks on the PC side who usually have to do some kind of
upgrade every 10-12 months or so (more memory, faster processor, 3dfx card,
etc).  Besides, having a spare cd player lying around the house never hurt.  Or
in my case, it IS my main cd player.

I highly doubt that SCE is going to port over what is turning out to be an
exclusive 'killer-app' for their platform right now.  Maybe the non PSX crowd
will be seeing GT ported after GT2 is released?

>Yep. But WHAT A GAME.

To be honest i don't see what's so great about it. Huge selection of cars, O.k
handling, but terrible racing. Too fewopponents, and the racing is just not
that, well, rewarding?

It's a nice part of my PSX selection, and at first one of motivations for
buying one. Maybe it needs a wheel to feel more fun, but i'm somewhat amazed
at the number of people who think it's god's gift to driving sims.

Ahh... maybe that's it. it is quite good at that driving- but it's a so-so
racer.

Sounds like you have done the reverse to me.

I bought a PlayStation because I found it to be cheaper than buying a
Voodoo 2 card and I wanted F197 - now I'm regretting it because of GPL and
CPR - which both run sh*te on my p166 (well the deom of GPL)

However Gran Tourismo is the most engrossing game I've played since GP2 so
I would recommend a PlayStation (if you can afford it) just for this game.
I also find Newman Haas a great Arcade/Sim game - not very in-depth but
still great fun - after all sometimes you don't want an in-depth game...
