GPL Problem (not patch related)

by Stephen Warrio » Sun, 18 Jul 1999 04:00:00

At some point in time, what with installing different add-ons, etc., my car
(any car) started materializing on the starting grid or pit lane at an
altitude of 1 foot or so.  It drops to the pavement and starts to roll
unless I remember to engage the brakes.  This is a minor annoyance at tracks
like Spa where the track slopes at the starting line.  At this point in time
I have no idea which add-on caused this behavior to start.  Does anybody
know if there is an INI setting or something that will rectify this?
Thanks.

I get this at Spa now - i don't have any add-ons
haven't noticed it at other tracks

I thought that was standard behaviour....

Hold the brake as you go the track, then, when on the track, hold down the
clutch and engage first gear. GPL will hold the car on the brakes for you so
you can rev the engine up before popping the clutch for a smoking getaway.

That is, of course, what I do but it seems to me that when I first started
using GPL, I didn't have this effect.  Dunno, maybe it's just my bad memory.

I've always had to stop it from rolling anywhere there's an incline.

Maybe your calibration used to be a little off so the brake was always
slightly engaged? Or.... the 1.1 patch uses better wheel baring grease? ;-)

I've found that the behaviour varies depending on what screenmode you're
in (1024x768, 800x600 or 640x480)

That's pretty interesting. I just went to 640x480 today because of some
heavy VROC traffic and the thing started rolling out of the pits at SPA.
