In Edge Magazine.

Says...at time of writing 170,000 bookings had been taken in UK.

Could well be nigher 200,000 as of now.

Impression of sim was most positive....FF was excellent as was rain effect.

So...GP3 already a box-office success.?

Good or bad, GP3 will be a seller that's for sure. I doubt any of us would
contradict your statement.

GP3 - The Phantom Menace of car sims?

This hype and high expectations must be bound for a let-down.

200,000 pre-bookings on F1 2000 would have been madness. On GP3, I think its
justified given the quality Crammond has produced in the past.

Like it or not GPL is slipping back a little.

Naw, I don't think so.  Look at it this way.
We know the new Nascar4 is gonna be leaps and bounds above anything
previous to it in the Papy Nascar Stable.  Why?  Two reasons...we KNOW all
about the GPL engine it will be based upon.  and we KNOW all about Dave K's
talents.  Even if it stank like a pig, there still would be tons of folks
lined up to buy it.
The same with GP3.  we KNOW Crammond's reputation.  heck we've been
driving his tracks for months(Brands Hatch, Oring)  I think you are letting
your "features expectation" get in the way of what gp3 can be.  Just looking
at the rain racing is reason enough to consider buying the sim.  Based on
his past efforts, we can be sure the work in gp3 will be good.  Will it have
all the bells and whistles?  Nope!  I'm sure Hasbro had a small part in
that....after all whose gonna buy GP4 next year if EVERYTHIJNG is already in
GP3?

Reputation in past 4 years: A lazy guy who's using the GP2 engine because he
thought it was good enough.
Wow, I am impressed.

ICR2 and GP2 came about around the same time and in realism both were about
the same...inaccurate, but both good for their time.  Crammond considered
what he had to be accurate enough and modifies it slightly...and that means
it'll probably be the best F1 sim around, but come what he's done in the
past few years hasn't been very impressive.  On the other hand Kaemmer goes
out there rips the thing apart and writes a very different and much more
complex physics engine...that's why we know N4 will be the most realistic
NASCAR sim....not to mention Papyrus tends to release demos to let you try
the stuff before you buy it.

we have?  what sim is this for?

Well considering he only 4 years to work on it there certainly should be
much more features in there...not to mention only in the past year have they
implemented 3d hardware support.

It's a picture...that's all, you have no idea what the code is like behind
it...heck PSX F1 sims had rain 4 years ago, that's not to say they were
worth buying!

SHUT UP! DON'T say that!!!!! I can't hear you anyway... LALALALALALALA

No seriously, I've had the same thoughts as well. Still, even if it's just
GP2 with 3D support, it'll rock.

pre-ordered.

YES!!! It will be an incredible racing simulator if so!!!!!

Like The Phantom Menace, GP3 will be a title that at first look seems
childish and commercial, but when looking more deeply will reveal an
incredible powerful meaning and double-story, including a bad-guy wins
ending.
