"Adding a new dimension to Grand Prix Legends"
Congratulations are in order for:
Greg Stewart - Formula 1 - Greg showed incredible late season speed to win
the last 7 races. A VERY worthy champion against some good competition.
WELL DONE GREG!!!
RoadRage (aka Ashley Miskelly) - Formula 2 - Roady showed glimpses of
brillance and incredible speed. Winning 6 races, Ashley has
proven he can take on the competition and we look forward to him joining
Formula 1 next season. WELL DONE ROADY!!!
Now on to the results from Rounds 15 & 16........
============ Press Release ===================
AUSTRALIAN SUPER7 LEAGUE
Rounds 15 & 16 - Nurburgring (Int Short)
Round 15
========
"MISKELLEY WINS AGAIN!!"
Formula 2
In qualifying, Roady showed the way taking the pole with a lap of 8:22.96
around the massive Nurburbring.
The race was a slightly processional affair with RoadRage too good running
away with the win. Ron Ashenden managed 2nd place and Antony van der Drift
3rd, both in Ferrari's.
"STEWART - 6 IN ROW!!"
Formula 1
With a variety of cars, again Formula 1 was going to be interesting. With
the top 3 drivers all driving Honda's, it was sure to be a shoot out.
Qualifying was a very close affair, with barely 2 seconds between the 1st
and second. James Pickard took the pole from a very impressive Guy Leach
and Vail Riches.
The race was marred by bad internet weather, but Greg Stewart came home to
take the win and fastest lap with it also. It was also an incredibly close
race wth James Pickard and Guy Leach finishing just 3.60 seconds behind
after 3 laps of the lon 14.5 mile track!!
Round 16
=========
"VAN DER DRIFT - WIN #3, BUT MISKELLEY TAKES THE TITLE!!"
Formula 2
Qualifying was a slower affair with Antony v.d.Drift taking the pole from
Ron Ashenden.
In the race, Antony ran away with the win from a fast charging Miskelley.
Ashley also took the fastest lap which was also faster than the Formula 1
FL. I think we know who may be moving up to F1 next season :-)) Troy
Rosenberg finished a consistent 3rd place in his beloved Coventry.
Congratulations to Ashely Miskelley on winning the 99/00 Austrailan Super7
League Championship.
"STEWART - 7 IN ROW AND TAKES THE TITLE!!"
Formula 1
Qualifying was a shootout with the top drivers putting in fast laps and the
pole not taken until the dying minutes of qualifying. Greg Stewart made
ammends for his Round 15 qualifying, to take the pole with a very quick
8:09.05 in the Honda ahead of Guy Leach and Vail Riches.
The race was a very exciting affair, not for the lead, but for the minor
placings. Greg Stewart capped off what has been a sterling season with a
final round win. Surprise 2nd was David Rosario, managing to stay out of
trouble. Steve Ryan took the last place on the podium chased home by Vail
Riches, both in Honda's.
============ End Press Release ===================
I would like to thank a number of people fo rmaking this season possible.
After some early problems, I think the AS7L has proven itself as an immensly
fun and competitive way of running a season and championship.
Thanks to:
Troy Rosenberg - For hosting the majority of races and helping out where
ever possible. Thanx Troy.....
Vince Browning - For his general input and help with some of the finer
points of the League... cheers Vince...
Phillip McNeley - For his incredible work on the web site, spreadsheets,
record keeping and generally putting up with me. While most of us were
asleep after a long nights racing, he would be up churning out the numbers
and html code. Without his work, we wouldn't have all the amazing
statistics and results to look through.
***** Thanks Phil.. I couldn't have run it without you!!!! ****
I will be doing a season review some time soon with all the results from all
races in a single document to look through. Watch out for that one.....
Also, don't forget that entries have opened for the Grand Prix Legends
Australian Championship season 3 (GPLAC3). If you thought that the AS7L was
big, wait until you see this!! Run over 13 rounds with Pro Long races,
this is the true Australian Championship. If you are interested, please
or visit the ASRG web site (see below)
