I'm running full spoiler. Someone else pointed out that it could be that
the frame rate has dropped enough that it just feels loose, ie. you can't
see the car turning so you overcorrect and pretty soon the back end is just
swinging around like a pendulum. I was playing around last night and came
to the same conclusion. Pretty disappointing considering I'm running on a
Pentium 100. I guess I'll just have to wait for NASCAR 2 and start saving
up for a Pentium Pro 200...

What resolution are you running and what graphic options do you have
turned on? I'm running on a 486-66 and in VGA with car detail, object
and ***/skid marks on running in traffic is only a little choppy.

SVGA, all detail turned off except objects (object texture is off), skid
marks, car detail is set to auto, 12 ahead, 2 behind, 1 heard, min frame
rate at 25. I remember noticing that the frame rate got pretty choppy along
the front straight when I was qualifying. I guess with all the traffic
lined up, it must get pretty miserable. This is on a 100MHz Pentium with
32MB RAM and a Diamond Stealth 64 PCI graphics card w/4MB VRAM. I'm going
to try turning off the objects during restarts until the traffic thins out
and see if that helps. I hate to drop the number of cars because if there's
a wreck, I won't see it until it's too late.

My theory:
i thing your computer doesn't know what it has at it's disposal.
if your 32 megs ram isn't allocated your computer won't use it.
your graphivc card could be a prob too...

i run a pentium 90 with 8megs ram, 2 megs video, and i run the game
(all tracks 40 car field)
* vga graphics,
* 10 ahead
* 5 behind
* 4 heard
* everything on (debris, skidmarks, etc...)
* full detail, everything textured
and my frame rate stays between my designated 25-30 /sec nice and
smooth
