OT: new CPU

My current CPU is getting very old and i'm looking for something a little
bit faster for GTR 2002 and LFS. My budget is limited so i'm looking either
at a Barton 2500 or the Thoroughbred XP 2600 with 333 mhz FSB. Their prices
are  very similar but i wonder which one is better for racing sims: the
Brton 2500 with its larger L2 cache or the XP 2600 with its faster cpu
clock?

No contest at all...XP2500+ Barton

Overclocks with ease to easily drown the XP2600+ in Mhz....:)

Yup, from what I have read, the bigger cache easily overwhelms the
higher clock-rate.  Goodluck.

I've just upgrade from a 2100+ XP to 2500+ XP Barton core.. and it
flies!! [1]
I can now run with shadows casting on to other cars and into***pits.
(You know the option that kills the fps)
Very nice eye candy :-)
Plus the barton core is bigger than Tbred.. and easier to cool

[1] Dropped into a my shuttle sn41g2 with 1GB PC2700 ram. So this might
be helping from my nforce1 board
