I think there are still enough CART/IRL fans that it would sell very well.
Some of just like open wheel racing, and don't care if it's IRL or CART...

Thanks, Eldred.
What is wonderful after so many years of RAS is to see familiar names - the
same ones who were here back in 1998/99, after GPL was released.
Says a lot for the quality of >>some<< of the sims that we've seen over that
time. :)

Bruce.

Ditto - except for modern F1, which I just can't stomach.
In fact, I'd much rather watch a CART (ChampCar) or IRL race than watch
Bernie's Flying Circus and listen to the machine-gun-like, statistics-laden
delivery of the ITV commentators.

Bruce.

Hehe, if you think that's bad, you should hear ITV's football (soccer)

Well, would the IRL help sell any copies?

Like I said in my other post, I have 0 interest in the IRL, but a game with
"Indy" splashed on the cover will click with more of the average public than
"CART". Everyone has at least heard of "Indy", "Formula 1", and "NASCAR".
They might not know much about those series (Americans don't watch F1 at
all, but still recognize the name), but they recognize the names. Very few
people will say they've heard of CART.

Racing fans would probably be inclined to by either game equally.

Whoa there, David! :)
That's a bit of a broad and sweeping statement, isn't it?
A bit like saying that Britons don't watch NFL, or Canadians have no
interest in watching cricket.
You can't throw the >entire< population into the one basket.

Plenty of time for us to bake you a cake then ;o) And don't worry, being
40 only hurts a little for the first few hours... then you realise it's
only ten years till fifty and the agony *really* kicks in!

Wonder if it's too late to start thinking about a pension? :o)

I'm English, and I'm a big CART fan, big NFL fan too. Why? Dunno. It just
kinda happened...

Being such a petrolhead, I watch any motorsport I can, but NASCAR and the
IRL really do push me the most to turn over. Papy have got me interested in
NASCAR, but now that has stopped, I doubt I'll be watching any more NASCAR
races. If they made an IRL sim, I wouldn't watch the IRL, except the IRL 500
of course, but I already watch all the CART I can, so a Papy CART sim would
be unbelievable.

By the way, if you find somebody who has heard of Indy but not CART in the
UK, it only takes a second to tell them that what they think of as Indycars
are in fact ChampCars, and the *new* Indycars are just some poor little rich
guys' big joke. Outside the US, you just explain that ChampCars turn right
and they will be instantly prefer CART over the IRL :-)

I was at the Milwaukee race last night and, I would estimate the
grandstands were about 3/4 full. (I'm not sure what the body count was,
I don't know the capacity of the new grandstands.) That was pretty
impressive considering the temperature at the start of the race was
around 50F with a stiff wind. (I was freezing my ass off!) I'm
definately going to the Road America race when the circus comes back to
town :-)
