CompUSA, Best Buy and EB so far. Anyone know where I can find it?
Thanks.
Thanks.

So don't leap to conclusions on the basis of a simple Usenet posting.
You really >have< adopted a suitable pen-name, haven't you?

I have just finished 35 laps of a 200-lap race at Homestead (in Season mode)
and am sitting in 16th. position, after qualifying - using default settings
except for camber and tyre-pressure adjustments - in 27th. position.
Sure, the game leans more to the "arcade" side of the scales, but I'm not
decrying that. It is very enjoyable and the Masterclass series of lessons,
the Trading Card feature, the Season, the separate Indy 500 all go towards
making it a pleasant experience. I'm not going to be one of these
"simulation snobs" and reject it simply because (a) Papyrus didn't create it
or (b) the physics weren't developed by the West Brothers.
Lack of mirrors is a non-event; there is a wealth of audible info to tell
you what is happening out of your eyesight: the spotter feature is excellent
and you can also hear the engines of the others either behind, to the right
or the left. In addition, a quick stab on the Spacebar gives a rear-view,
very handy when on the straight and wondering how far back the competition
is.
I have not caused one tangle because of lack of mirrors. Again, the info
coming from the spotter more than makes up for it.
If I were to be picky then my dislike would be aimed at two areas, both to
do with the behaviour of the car.
One is the limpet-like grip of the car. It is almost impossible to spin it
and in fact I've only been able to do so when in the filter lane, either
coming from the pits or before entering same.
However, I have not fiddled with the wing adjustment to any great extent so
perhaps doing so will make a difference.
The other is the in-car adjustment for the fore-and-aft balance to
compensate for tyre wear and fuel consumption.
There is negligible difference between full front and full rear balance.
Maybe this is another feature tied in with the wings - I don't know.
One of the plusses for a solo player like yours truly is that when pitting
for a normal fuel/tyre stop during a race you have the opportunity to save
the game-state and can resume from that point at a later time.
For me, as I don't play on-line (and there is no multiplayer anyway) that
alone is worth the price of admission! :)
Bruce.
