f1 sim wheel re-cal

by Mark » Mon, 09 Nov 1998 04:00:00

I'm using an f1 compact wheel and have read
some posts about the wheel recalibrating mid race
how do you know if this is happening, I do sometimes
get a slight movement of the wheel when i'm not moving
it.
thanks

With me, it was when I moved the wheel fast from one side over to the other
as in trying to sort out an over-steer problem, when I get in it back in
line I have to keep the wheel over to the one side. It also happens when I
hit armco.

If you***down the bolt on the top of the wheel shaft this will stop it
IM told, not had time to try'd it myself

Andy.

OK lads.  Here is the fix for the F1 SIM losing calibration.  The problem is
where the end of the steering mechanism makes contact with the pot.  A
*** component drops the size of the shaft from about 20mm to 6mm and this
6mm "neck" of *** fits over the pot shaft.  This can start to slip so you
get mis-calibration.  You need to strip down the unit and put the pot shaft
into the neck.  Get a small cable tie and put it round the neck and tighten.
The pot should still come out but be a little tighter than before.
Re-assamble.  This will solve your calibration problems!
