F1 SIM racing wheel question

by Borger Borgerse » Wed, 25 Jun 1997 04:00:00

I've just ordered the F1 SIM racing wheel by Digital Edge
and noticed that it's possible to buy optional accessories
to this wheel / pedal system.

Does anyone know how the optional VMS (Virtual Movement
Simulator) work?  Will I benefit from the VMS system when
playing GP2 by Microprose.  I cannot imagine there is any
support for VMS in GP2, but I might be wrong.  What about
other racing software (Nascar 2, Indycar Racing 2 etc.)?

The only info I have on the VMS system is from the homepage
of Digital Edge:
"VMS (Virtual Movement Simulator) provides realistic
torque feedback through the steering wheel"

Check out this page for details:
        http://www.racesimcentral.net/

What are the differences between the standard wheel and the
optional D wheel or the Benetton Wheel?

PS:  It's even possible to purchase a F1 body shell for this
wheel / pedal system, but with a price of 2500 I guess you
have to  be a millionaire to afford that.

F1 SIM racing wheel question

Hi..... I own an F1 SIm, however , I do not have a vehicle motion
simulator (vms) unit.

I do however know how they work, it is basically a cylindrical unit,
which you strap to your steering column or chair leg. The unit simulates
variable motion/vibration, and is controlled by the pedals, not the
software you are using. EG:- the more you accelerate, the more the unit
vibrates (Oo-er!!!!)

So it should work in any program that the F1 SIm works with?

The "D" wheels are just that "D" shaped? instead of round? The Benetton
wheels are just normal wheels, but with the benetton design and logo on
it? And they cost more?

You do need to also purchase the dc power pack to get the vms unit to
work, contact Digital Edge or Interactive Racing for more details/prices
etc.

You can always hire it for the day?
