F1 2001 Questions

Well, I've just purchased it, for the GTmod and the F1 season starting...
but I'm puzzled by a couple of things:

In F1, I've turned "off" all aids (under "Difficulty"), but I still seem to
have some form of ABS or traction control?  If I slam on the accelerator in
1st gear, it starts off slowly, then later spins the wheels instead of
immediately?  (is that a slow clutch doing that?)  And if I'm going fast and
slam on the brakes, the car slows down very nicely instead of locking up the
wheels... only locking them up after I've slowed significantly?  What's up?
Or is this how a modern F1 works?  :-)  (I've also set speed sensitivity to
100%, twitchy otherwise, is this right?)

Also, on the GTMod side, how do I re-start the engine when it drowns out?
Basically, if I don't clutch right, the engine can stall, so where's the
ignition key?  I've been able to restart the engine going downhill and
gearing it in, cool.  I probably need to RTFM, right?

Anyhow, keep in mind it's my first hour if these questions are stoopid  ;-).
I don't like that F12001 replay system, it kinda stinks.
Thanks.

There is a problem with split axis controllers,(separate brake and
throttle axis) that for some reason it only sees the 2nd half of your
pedal's travel.  Two possible solutions...turn off split axis so that the
gas and brake are on the same axis, or use a utility like dxtweek to
reconfigure the range of #'s that your pedals report...this works fine but
REALLY messes up any other sims.

I missed that as well...I guess just try and coast out onto the track and
let a Viper bumpstart ya...:)

You need to fix the range of your throttle and brake with DXTweak.

You have to be able to roll to restart.  I'm not sure about GT cars
but F1 cars don't have batteries onboard.  So if you stall you're
stuck.
