LWFF Excessive Dead zone

by GLege » Mon, 18 Feb 2002 19:31:59

I'm running NR2002 with the LWFF, and I'm noticing an abnormal amount of
center dead zone.  I'm just wondering if others are having this also?  I
know there should be some, but its making me have trouble in the sim.  I'm
having a hard time coming out of the corner, and having to steer way right
to keep it close to the wall. I understand on certain tracks with a lot of
banking it makes it difficult, but it seems a little excessive in my case.

thanks

Set the linearity slider in the calib screen to a smaller value.
I set it to 0, removes the deadzone completely but the car becomes
very twitchy to drive :)

Andre, thanks for the reply, but this didn't make any difference for me as
far as the dead zone is concerned.

thanks again

Andre,

Don't you have that backwards?  With my LWFF, the _higher_ I set the Linearity,
the smaller the deadzone I get and the twitchier the car gets.  At zero, my
deadzone is huge, while at 100, I wobble back and forth with the slightest
input to the wheel.

FWIW, I'm no hotshoe, but I have mine set at between 80 and 90.

Oops, yes I got confused with GPL.. in GPL you have to set the
slidebar to the left to get more linearity, in N2002 it's the other
way around indeed. In GPL I have the slider full left, in N2002 I set
it at 90. 100 is a bit too much in N2002.

Ok.. go to www.wingmanteam.com, go to 'gadgets' and download and run
DXTweak. Set all the values to 0 and give it another shot..

All I can say now is WOW, thanks a whole lot, now I can finally race
competitively.  Makes racing a whole lot more enjoyable, before I was all
over the place coming out of the turns.

thanks again!!!!
