GP2 Sound Problem

by Marti » Fri, 22 Oct 1999 04:00:00

Hi to all,

I hope that you will  be able to help me !

Here is a brief description of my PC

P3 450 Pentium
128 Ram
16 mb Voodoo3 3dfx 3000 Video Card
Sound Blaster Live

I installed GP2 with no problem except no sound.

GP2 is an old game but works fine on similar systems

Any body help?

Thanks in advance,

GP2 never seems to work with SoundBlaster Live! or SoundBlaster PCI-128
cards. The PCI-64 seems to be okay. Even when re-starting in MS-DOS mode
they'll often just crash the GP2 sound set-up routine. Get an old ISA
SoundBlaster 16 or AWE32 or 64, or a PCI-64 instead.

Are you running gp2 from within windows (in a dos box) or are you booting
out to dos ? It sounds like it is not loading your sound card drivers. If
you are booting out to dos, a line should be written to your
c:\windows\dosstart.bat file during installation that says something like
this :  C:\PROGRA~1\CREATIVE\SBLIVE\DOSDRV\SBEINIT.COM
If you are running gp2 from a dos box within windows the sound card drivers
should already be loaded....Try a reinstall of gp2.

I run gp2 in a dos box on my P500/V3/SBLive with no probs.

Good luck, Phil
