Wow! If that is French like I think it is, then I actually am learning
something in French 1! You said, very roughly translated, that in '66, F1
didn't use the banking. They used it in the film because it was cool. Am I
right?
Grand Prix on DVD. Now theres something to be seen!!!!

Then, at Monza, the camera catches a beautiful view of the stright, then the
"Curva Grande" I think it is.. Halfway through the Curva, I sat bolt upright
in my chair and said "My God! There's that ***ing tree!" That damn thing
was THERE!
I can't tell you how many times I've killed that tree in GPL. And vice
versa!
Amazing, Papyrus. Absolutely amazing.

That's because Garner played Pete Aron. Therefore it wouldn't be too
confusing when footage of real racing was shown.... Similar helmets and
names. Aron/Amon worked from long distance. So did Stoddard/Stewart, and
Barlini/Bandini.

Some movies like Grand Prix were filmed in a Cinematographic Process called
"Super Panavision 70", who is almost the size of two television together.
Your losing 40% of the picture. And ever more is the fact that this movie
uses uncommon techniques like multiple screens during the movie (very often
during the racing sequence). You miss alot of image and information by only
buying the "cropped" version.
This applies for EVERY movie. Buy the Widescreen version if you can.
There's sometimes important movie info your loosing, and especially for SFX
movies, your loosing alot of image. Best example is the Fifth Element,
during the New York Car chase.

Last time it was on Speedvision, we decided to rent it because Speedvision
comes in so crappy on the home theater (it's a 32" Trinitron....Speedvision
only comes in good on my 20" Panasonic in my bedroom, and that can be
intermittent). Speedvision was showing it in widescreen, and I managed to
watch the first 20 minutes with all of the interference and all....you know
where they split the screen up into three parts at the beginning? If it's
not widescreen, you can only see two or one! I was amazed at what a
difference it made. You just see so much more.
