F1 2002 stopped working - Help!!

by Phoenix Knig » Tue, 15 Oct 2002 23:47:45

F1 2002 was working perfectly well yesterday, and I've made no
alterations and installed nothing new, but when I try to run it now
all that appears is a black screen!

The hourglass of the mouse appears and just seems to be busy doing
'something' for ages, but it doesn't get into the game no matter how
long I wait.

What's going on?

Why did it change?

I've just uninstalling and reinstalling... same problem.

Have you tried running 3d set-up again?

?

Try Alt-Tab'ing to your desktop, or Ctrl-Alt Del
if you are running Win2K.  You may find that the game
needs an Internet connection and your firewall or virus
checker is waiting for your permission to allow it.

This happened to me a while ago. I'm using Esafe Desktop
as my virus checker/firewall and it was waiting for my permission
to add F1 2002 to its 'sandbox'.

Good Luck

The game shouldn't need an internet connection to run. It's never needed one before.

I don't use a virus check, so that can't be it.

And yes, I have tried the 3D Setup.

This really has me stummped! Grrrr!!

I guess by 'Internet Connection' I mean a TCP/IP port.
as it is a multiplayer network playable game isnt it?

As a sanity check, I tried it again on my machine
and I was able to replicate the problem. My firewall
will *not* allow it to access any port until I give it permission.

Good luck anyways...

I solved the problem, but haven't a clue how I did it. But at least
it's running now.

Many thanks for your help anyhows.
