CMR2 and Microsoft FF Wheel

I noticed a strange thing in this fantastic game. I have an Athlon 600 Mhz
and a Microsoft FF Wheel (not USB). If I enable the force feedback, the game
doesn't run very smoothly, even at 640*480. If I play without feedback,
everything runs ok, even at 1024*768! How can this be possible. I tried to
reinstall drivers, I tried with windows me and 98se, but nothing changes. Is
feedback so power draining? i find this rather strange. Anyone may help out
there? thanks!

MSFF wheel eats cpu cycles with FF turned on. I didn't realize it was that
bad though. A long time ago I played Sports Car GT with a MS Sidewinder FF
joystick and it was unplayable with FF on at any resolution. With it off,
1024x768 on a PII 333 was fine (except at Desert Speedway for some reason).

Logitech FF seems to be much more CPU friendly.

Yep, I too noticed the framerate drop when switching to the MSFF.
However, a lot of FPS can be gained by turning off Environmental
Mapping in Advanced Graphics.

reason).

On a PIII 500 I've never had a problem with FF on the MSFF until I got CMR2.
But the jerkiness induced in CMR2 is very noticeable.
