Guillemot FF Wheel & CMR2 - Help required

by Carl Smethurs » Tue, 21 Jan 2003 08:03:26

Using a Guillemot (Thrustmaster) Ferrari Force Feedback Wheel in Colin McRae
Rally 2.  The wheel works fine for about 2 minutes (enough for one stage if
I'm lucky), then just stops responding completely, requiring a restart of
the game and switching the wheel off and on again before Windows can see it
again.  Problem is identical in Win XP and 98, but TOCA2 works fine.

Using 1.09 patch of CMR2 and latest drivers for the wheel (2.63), along with
DirectX 8.1 and Nvidia 41.09 drivers on Geforce Ti 4200.  Anyone any ideas?

TIA

Carl

My Logitech used to lose FF. Found out there's an on board thermistor that
would overheat. Turning down the FF effects solved it, but the thermistor
probably needs to be replaced or bypassed. I don't know if that's what yours is
doing but you might try turning off FF and see if it still does it.

Carl,

Had the exact same problem - turned out to be a faulty wheel, odd that
it did seem to work for longer periods in some games than others, some
I had no problem with at all - but, replacement wheel solved all
probs.

You may find you can get it to be recognised again by just unplugging
and plugging it back into USB - sometimes in-game will work (it did
is motocross madness 2 but not in Nascar Heat.

Thanks guys
Maybe a new wheel is the answer - but I've had this one just over 12 months,
so it's out of guarantee :-(
I'll try some of the other suggestions...
