The oddly-named HomeLAN Fed site (which seems to have little to do with
homes, LANs, or the Feds) shagged an interview with Papyrus' Rich Yasi on
the whats, whys & wherefors of NASCAR 2002 that's definitely worth a look:

I hate to admit it, but it looks like Papy will get my money again.
There are just enough new features in there to make it sound like it is
worth it.  Only problem I see at this point is that the "Coca Cola
Speedway" is liable to be the only one running on servers for quite some
time...

There was also an interview with Papyrus producer Tom Faiano posted
last week at Gamespot (link below). One thing mentioned in the
Gamespot article was that a new damage model would be included, making
it easier to get damaged.

Thanks Steve..I like the way the demo feels. The tire model does feel
accurate and the cars are fun to drive. One wonders what an open wheel sim
would be like from these folks now a days :o)

Much as I WOULD have liked to see Papy do another CART sim, somehow the idea
of one with no engines, sponsors, or tracks to run on doesn't sound too fun.
The way CART's going right now you'd end up driving the Enron/Toro 0.2 liter
with 11 hp. Though a 2001 version where you could only go as far as the
practice session at Texas...

Hell, you'll be lucky if CART is around, let alone a sim depicting it.   =)
