Request for graphics option in N2002

Hi!

Actually, I miss this option in ALL sims that have a working
replay feature: two separate configs for driving and replay.

While driving I want the best fps possible with sufficient graphics
quality. During replay I want the best graphics quality possible
with little regard to fps.

You can have this.

I set up two driver profiles... one is the driver I use for racing, with
settings aimed at frame rate performance.

The other driver profile I call "View Replays" which I set for eye candy
and only use for watching my replays.

Done this with N4, F12k1 and GPL.

Well, this requires ending and starting the sim and just for looking at
my last 4 laps I don't wanna save the replay, end and start the sim, load
the replay,... too much trouble. It would be a simple option with VERY
little programming effort (I'm not guessing, I know... ;)

Knock yourself out then, I'm sure the programmers at Papy would be very grateful for you to take
care of that easy programming change for them.

While typing I knew that somebody not in the know would take my comment as arrogant.
Trust me, it's not. This option would just be a little combobox (you know what that is?)
and the graphics configs would go into two diffentent segments of the same config file.

It's NOT a big deal, really. OTOH, I'm really surprised nobody else would like to have
this feature...

Yeah it's annoying in N4 also eh?  You load a replay, takes about 30seconds,
only to see that your graphics' quality is mediocre as you use the
"not-really" optimised N4 engine at it's minimum when racing.  At least it's
not so bad in real-time server replay as you can easily go back to the
option menu from within the racing menu.  It's in GPL also, but we all have
GPL's option to the max by now, so it's not a problem anymore.

But Ronald, Papyrus' scalability in their Nascar software has gone backwards
with each title.  It's amazing how non-scalable it is in NR2002, there's
even LESS options then N4, which had then N3, and much much less then GPL
(GPL still has an amazing scalability)

This is a fairly common feature amoung console racers.  The game runs at a
low resolution for framerate and the replays are shown automatically at a
higher graphic rez.

What I think he was saying is that since it is easy, you should be able to
do it, not that you are being arrogrant. That was not a particulary
offensive message btw.

No, his response was a common reaction to criticism (of Papy ;): if you can't
do it better, don't demand better. I'm doing GUI/2dGraphics for more than 10 years
now, so I know, it's a simple option to implement. But my main point was
the usefullness of this option (to me), not how hard it is to implement it.

Oh well, as almost nobody reacted positively to my request, I guess it is actually
NOT worthwhile for Papy (or other sim developers) to implement this option... ;)
