N2002 Graphics Question

by Damien Smit » Sun, 05 May 2002 12:29:20

Hi,

Just noticed that the scenery seems to be moving past in a 'jittery'
fashion.  I'm getting about 80fps, yet the motion isn't smooth.  In F1 2001,
when I watch a building disappearing from view, it does so in a liquid
smooth fashion.  I think N2002 must ignore the windows vsync option....Is
there any way to enable vsync in one of the game's ini files?

Cheers
Damien

N2002 Graphics Question

Well, it seems that Nascar 2002 uses 'Triple Buffering' which is a sort of
vsync compromise.  On one hand, it allows the frame rate to exceed the
refresh rate and doesn't cause tearing, but on the other hand it causes
slightly jittery motion.  So I guess my next question is, does anyone know
how to disable 'Triple Buffering' in N2002?

TIA

Are you using WinXP or Win2k? Because that's an effect I saw there as well.
At the time I thought that the drivers are using sort of an 'fps trick' to
be able to post a higher fps in that they skip background images (everybody
seemed to be so intent on having the same fps under XP as under the 9x
systems).

Vsnych needs to be off for N2002(and most games), simple as that, fwiw.
I know what it does, but it doesn't do it well in most cases, including
N2002.

Lol, whatever buddy.  Take a poll if you want; bet 99.9% of those here
don't/can't use vsynch, in any software.  You can, great, good for you.  No
need to act like you own stock in it.
