Trouble installing F1RS

by Rod11101 » Wed, 27 May 1998 04:00:00

Every time I try to install F1RS, it get's to
F1RS\Ubisoft\....\Resson\Concre~1.wav and halts  the installation and tells me
that it can't load it. I click ok and it uninstalls what it loaded up to that
point. So I'm back to nothing!!!  I went and played that file through the file
manager and it played that exact WAV file. I even copied the entire CD to
another directory but it still went to the CD-ROM for the installation. I
couldn't fool it.  When I view it in the file manager it has that ~1  Is that
because it can't show the whole name of it?  I think that's the problem. If
anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Rod

From the FAQ:
"This appears because you have outdated CD-ROM drivers that aren't fully
compatible with Windows 95. Your PC is running the CD-ROM drive in MS-DOS
compatibility mode which only allows 8.3 characters per file name. You'll need
to get new drivers from the manufacturer."
