Driver Demo--No Sound

I have downloaded the driver demo twice now, and both times have failed
to get any sound in the game. I know they are there because I have heard
them via the Mission Editor. I have a SB Live sound card, anyone else
out there with this problem, and if so how, if you were able to, did you
remedy this problem. Thanks in advance

I am having the same problem and I too have SBLIVE! value
Actually the sound IS PLAYING. turn up the volume all the way and you can
just barely hear it in the distance. Still haven't figured it out yet
though.

where did you get the editor for the extra cars?
thanks

P.S.
It seems to me the SB live is a big pain in the ***compared to the other
creative labs cards...
I love my awe64, it always works great and the sound is fantastic!

I had the same problem -sort of. I had the cop voices and some
environmental noises, but no car sounds.
I downloaded the editor to get the extra cars, and while I was messing
with the options, I re-added the in-car sound from the sound menu.
When I played the game, I had car sounds.
I also have a SBLive Value.

Downloading Liveware 2.0 & the 2.1 update from www.creativelabs.com will
cure this.

Its 25Mb though!!!! So maybe the editor method below is a quicker (&
cheaper?) solution

Men, I do not have Driver demo but the like problem I had in Mechwarrior III
with SB Live! .
All sounds were OK but mech moving sound. But solving was easy :
The cause was of Microsoft DirectX 6.1 drivers shipped with Win98.
(namely dsound.dll, dsound.vxd)
Any other version of DirectX does not replace these files cos it considers
that they are newest.
All you need is any DirectX 6.1 (or 6.0) that any latest game have on CD.
Just copy these two files in WINDOWS\SYSTEM
replacing the old ones and I pray it would help you.
If not, please mail or re: , maybe I could tell something another.
