Trouble with engine sounds with Nascar 2 Demo!

Hey all -

I have an Ensoniq pn'p sound card that works great under the original
Nascar and even autodetects under the demo - but I don't get any digital
sounds other than the spotter!  Kinda quiet in the ol'***pit!  I have
32MB of RAM and a 133mhz pentium and am running the game rebooted in DOS
mode.  I have even copied the sound.cfg file from the original Nascar
over to my new directory but to no avail.  I don't really see any errors
and it seems to initialize the sound card and the test under the setup
for sound works.  Anyone out there get theirs to work for engine and
crash sounds?  Papyrus - any thoughts?  I know it is just a demo, so
don't waste too many brain cells on this one - you have bigger projects
to work on!!  Thanks for any help that can be provided.
I love the demo aside from no sounds other than my spotter!

Well, you're doing better than I am.  I have an Ensoniq wavetable card
that also works great under the original NASCAR, but not only does it not
work under the demo... it causes the demo to crash.  If I delete the sound
configuration file, the demo works fine... if I have a sound configuration
file in the demo directory, it crashes.  Oh well..... like you said, it's
just a demo.  It's gonna' have some quirks.

I too had this problem..Turns out it was of my own making
and i am assuming yours too.  Turn the announcer priority to
85%.  At 100% the announcer has total priority which turns
the engine sounds off..try it

Michael,

I too have an Ensoniq (VIVO version).  I can't get anything but digital
sound to work with either Nascar version.  Just wondering if you've
gotten FM sound to work on yours.  (I'm running Win95 but booting to DOS
for the sim)  The demo sound worked fine for me just by copying in my
other sound.cfg file.  Good luck.

Hi Michael,
When you set up the sound card in the setup program, did the sound
test program work?
