Problem with Viper Racing

I had this problem with the demo, which I ininstalled before installing
the full game. I still have the same graphic glitch: transparent
triangles appears on all cars and on the tracks. Only triangles... no
other shapes. It's weird cause I can see through the track and it looks
like the track is in the air (no I didn't smoke anything....).
Here's my system:
PII 400
128 meg of ram
Sound Blaster PCI 128
Diamond Stealth II G640 AGp 8 meg of ram
Diamond Monster II 3dfx 12 meg of ram
Direct X 6.0
Most recent drivers for graphic cards and sound card

    Hi,

This may not actually help this problem -- Diamond's latest Voodoo II
drivers are from early September, before 3Dfx fixed this problem.  My
recommendation would be to get the latest reference drivers from 3Dfx, but
your mileage may vary.

Thanks for the advice, I will certainly try downloading these new
drivers. Also, I have tried running Viper Racing using my Diamond
Stealth G640 AGP (using the command Viper Racing.exe -1 at DOS command
line) and the problem is fixed. I can run in 800X600 resolution at just
about the same speed as my other card (33 fps) with almost all the
details turned on (only drw distance is not set at full). I guess the
problem is with the 3Dfx chip after all. Also, I find the colors to be
darker (and nicer looking) when playing with the Diamond Stealth. Hope
this doesn't burn my card.

This is a great game! I really like the fact that the car can run better
with the upgrades! I played 2 hours last night because I really wanted
to have that new gear box. This game is ***ive. Job well done!

Wow, that's my system, except it's a 300Mhz and I have avoided Directx
6.

Since that's the case, I would have to lean towards Directx-6 being the
problem.

That's not the cause.  Not in my case.

Yep, my case.  I said earlier that I did not have this problem with the
Demo.

Now I do, after I installed the full game.

The only difference is the mandatory install of Direcx 6.  Why oh why
did they force us to use 'beta' software, which Directx6 is, IMHO.

Same here...

If I run with the G460 the problem is gone.  Frame rates are a _lot_
slower, though.  About 10fps.

I took care of the 'triangles' in my case by downloading the reference
3dfx drivers from www.3dfx.com and installing them.  Not the Beta
Directx6 drivers, but the reference drivers for Voodoo-2.

I don't know what else I've broken in the process, but I'm sure I'll
find it :)

One thing - I have ended up with two 3dfx control panels.  The original
Diamond version, and the new generic 3dfx version!
