ZANDVOORT - 1:37
SILVERSTONE - 1:34
'RING - 9:55

I've put up a page on my site with MY best laps, setups & replays
(FERRARI-ONLY!). So far, I've got setups & replays files for Spa, the Glen,
Monza, and Kyalami, and a setup for Silverstone, but I will be adding more
as I improve!

If anyone uses them (unchanged) and can run faster times, let me know!
That's my challenge to you! I'll be working on them too!

http://webhome.idirect.com/~drbryan/gpl/files/setups/ferrari.htm

System: P2-233, 64MB Ram, Stealth II S220, Awe-64 Gold, Thrustmaster T2
wheel (NOT split)
(I'll be getting my PDPI L4 in the next day or two!)..

(Incidentally, today I saved 47 MINUTES of an online practice and race at
Silverstone with about 15 starters, I believe.)

Monza: 1:27.95
Zandvort: 1:25.69
W.Glen: 1:04.86
Kyalami: 1:20.1

Haven't done others...
Shifting with a shi(f)ter sucks big time.

says...

  times are above.
I would like to see others list their times by  without seperate axis
controls.

I tried the new Micro$oft  FF wheel and was not really impressed with
it and would recommend GP1 Thrustmaster wheel before it any day.

I am going to get CH pedals soon to get seperate axis so i can challenge
the big boys.

Cheers

I'm still only running the latest demo, but with an unmodified T2. I have
1.08.72 for Watkins Glen with the Lotus (with very little fuel in the
tank), and this was on a mildly cautious lap.

I managed a 1:07.98 at the Glen with the Lotus and an unmodified T2.
The replay shows lots of room for improvement; I'm sure someone fast
could do a 1:05.xx with this wheel.

Anyone with a switchable single-dual axis wheel done A/B comparisions?

Alas, here I shall display my ineptitude to all <sigh>;
I, too, have a T2 on a single axis gas/brake (I have yet to make the
modification) but I do have a tennis ball under the brake to help with
pedal "feel".

My lap times and comments are written next to Jay's.

> is there anybody else out there running GPL with a T2 that does not have

> KYALAMI - 1:27     1:24.68 - Know the circuit fairly well by now.
> MONZA - 1:32               1:35.07 - Have driven this for one or two quick races at most.
> MOSPORT - 1:28     1:27.13 - My home circuit :).  Know it well in Real Life from Porsche

                                "driver instruction" <ahem> events.
with the full install (no one hosts there!)
                                playing with setups.
and it seemed forever before I could consistently lap
                                under 2:00.00.
from Real Life experience in a race prepped, bucking and
kicking, fire snorting 911C4 with an aftermarket supercharger
putting out over 470bhp.  The four wheel drive mixed with
electronic traction control saved my bacon more than once!
saved my bacon on more than one occasion
things at over 120 virtual mph.

It seems, Jay, that you and I are fairly evenly matched at this point.
I am a little quicker than you at some tracks where I have a fair amount
of practice and, likewise, you are a little faster than I at other
circuits.

I still have a fair way to go in regards to setups.  I have been using
some of Doug A.'s setups that I saw posted at an Aussie website, but now
I realise that they are all based on the beta so they have unrealistic
bumper settings (i.e. below 1.00"); I don't know if they are recognised,
or if the bumper defaults to 1.00" and therefore springs and ride
heights are way out of whack.  I am just starting to mess with them
now.  I have really dropped the car from Doug's beta setups at places
like Zandvoort and Mexico.

Practice, practice, practice!

Cheers,
Gian Vitzthum.

What's up Dok! (sorry couldn't resist)

Just wanted to tell you that you *really* really should consider splitting
your T2 pedals axis, this should be a very important priority for you.

I went through the trouble of doing it and let me tell you it has payed
off greatly in GPL...

Here's the scenario: you are in the Scuderia's fine steed driving at Monza,
you are approaching the first Lesmo quite fast but applying a ton of brakes
you think you have slowed just enough to make the turn and gain a second
on that damned green Lotus that fills your mirrors...

As you enter the corner trail braking, you realize you may have approached
the corner too fast, the back-end seems to be coming around !!  carefully as
if on instinct, while maintaining the brake pressure of your left foot,
at the same time you blip the throttle just so... the sudden rear wheel
power stops the oversteering and brings the car back into balance and you
avoid the spin, making the corner while being just outside the prefered line,
at the same time you seem to have pulled away from that damned Lotus...

This is what split pedal axis allows... I've done this exact thing many times,
just substitude my Eagle for your Ferrari..

I can't tell you enough how much the split pedals have aided in avoiding
spins, especially when you race in some of the Online races with PRO damage
setting (no shift-R), it becomes crucial to have this kind of control and
be able to drive on the limit while having the ability to correct potential
disasters..

Anyhow, just wanted to pass on the info, I think it would really help you,
I hope to race you online again soon.

Seeyas on the track.

i'm only now trying to do a little tinkering. it's hard to make solid judgements when you can't
stay on the track! when i drive GPL, i've been doing a different car every couple of days and
going through all of the tracks. invariably, i will improve upon all of my best times for that
car (and best overall a good portion), so my best times are done with anything from the BRM to
the Ferrari.
