Hmmmm,  I only have the demo, so can only sight two circuits.....
MONZA  -  1m33.45
WATKINS GLEN  -  1m09.11
I don't think my times are anything special, so you better keep
practicing!  Thing is, can you stay on lap after lap?  Now thats
the trick!

Monza 1:31.10
Watkins Glen 1:16.73
Guess it's even at the moment-actually, I love Monza but my favourites are
Monaco & Hungary - c'mom-where can I get a beta copy  of THE game of 98, or at
least the track files for the demo? I've looked 'warez' way but got really fed
up with the pop up screens and seem to be going around in circles! Don't
worry-the game is high on my MUST BUY list but let's start practising now, eh?

I had seen on the Sierra UK page that the date is listed as Oct. 8th.

Sorry!

I am "worse than yourself."  Frankly, I practiced Watkins Glen
again and again, trying to break 1:20.  I finally got  1:18:92,
but that other guy posted that his time was 9 seconds faster!
I just can't figure out where I'm losing 9 seconds.

Do you think using an on/off button for brakes is bad?  I would
never use a button for throttle, so maybe it is.

You could start a 'Coldlap' League for the worst times  :-). But how
would you know people weren't 'sandbagging'?

btw. I've only tried the Glen but i'm on 1:09ish I think. Like the man
says 'lap after lap' - now thats hard.

I was running 1:16 for some time, but after many hours my best is 1:09.1xx.
I think using a button for brakes is very bad in GPL, I have found that
being able to feather the brakes helps me alot going into corners, by using
a button, it's like slamming on the brakes, and probably locking them up
quite often.

I spoke to someone at Electronic Boutique today and according to their
release schedule it is still due to be on the shelves next Friday (9th
October) here in the UK.

Just ordered it from my state side relatives-previous games got here in 4
days-and cheaper too - CPR for $22 2 months before UK release - sorry, but I'm
not taking the chance of another 'delay' with notoriously unreliable UK release
dates-what are the US release schedules like for accuracy?

I've found myself braking hard, and NEED the ability to adjust the
degree of braking as I approach the corner. Compared to the ICR2 and
N2, this is unbelievably different.

I've also found the car settles much easier once I turn into the
corner if I'm on the gas. In my early laps I was braking, turning in,
and getting back on the gas. Too often I'd lose her. With that getting
back on the gas pedal after I've finished braking I can control the
slide so much easier.

This is also the first game I've really noticed the difference of
switching my CDS from their (previously) usual link pedal position, to
switched pedal axis, where both the accelerator and brake are on a
different joystick axis. Input from both simultaneously. It's not
something I can describe - I just felt it when I started using it and
thought it was making a good difference.

Another improvement came from setting fully linear steering. On the
long straight before the crest of the hill at the Glen, and on the
long straights of Monza I was finding that getting myself over to the
appropriate edge of the circuit was quite hard, as I had to steer
quite a bit more than I really wanted to if I slipped onto the grass
or wanted to fine tune my position. In the default 50% position, I had
to steer more for tiny course adjustments. WIth fully linear it's so
much twitchier, but also more precise for it. Given that my CDS wheel
is super smooth all the way through it's travel this really is
worthwhile.
