I've found myself braking hard, and NEED the ability to adjust the
degree of braking as I approach the corner. Compared to the ICR2 and
N2, this is unbelievably different.
I've also found the car settles much easier once I turn into the
corner if I'm on the gas. In my early laps I was braking, turning in,
and getting back on the gas. Too often I'd lose her. With that getting
back on the gas pedal after I've finished braking I can control the
slide so much easier.
This is also the first game I've really noticed the difference of
switching my CDS from their (previously) usual link pedal position, to
switched pedal axis, where both the accelerator and brake are on a
different joystick axis. Input from both simultaneously. It's not
something I can describe - I just felt it when I started using it and
thought it was making a good difference.
Another improvement came from setting fully linear steering. On the
long straight before the crest of the hill at the Glen, and on the
long straights of Monza I was finding that getting myself over to the
appropriate edge of the circuit was quite hard, as I had to steer
quite a bit more than I really wanted to if I slipped onto the grass
or wanted to fine tune my position. In the default 50% position, I had
to steer more for tiny course adjustments. WIth fully linear it's so
much twitchier, but also more precise for it. Given that my CDS wheel
is super smooth all the way through it's travel this really is
worthwhile.
