Well, actually, if you reread your own post above, you said it was a
Direct3D game.  That implies it can indeed by accelerated by just
about any 3D accelerator.

Here you call it a D3D game.  Wrong.  It IS Glide though you can play it
WITHOUT hardware acceleration as well.

The above is what Marc stated.  He's correct.  He then goes on to say
the following, which afaik is correct:

Apparently so.

Yes, but again other than Voodoo cards, NOT accelerated.

Ok.

Yes you did, when you called it a D3D game.

See above.

Beats the hell outta me.  ;)  I don't have Heavy Gear.  This is what
Activision mentioned in a little blurb near the link for the patch.

Yes I know. It was me who said it.

Marc is correct. Most 3DFX games use the Glide libraries, not Direct3D...
and one or two of those 70 games actually support the Voodoo ___RUSH__
chipset. If they were just Direct3D games, I'd have 3D accelleration (via
direct3D) with all 70 instead of just a couple, so it's not the numbers
that lie, it's the little hardware support logos the game venddors put on
the boxes.
