Trouble with Logitech Momo wheel

Hi All. First post to this newsgroup.

I've recently purchased a Logitech Momo Racing FF wheel (the newer one,
black with a side shifter lever), and have gotten it going fine and had lots
of enjoyment in a few games, including GPL (still trying to get those
settings just right) and especially, of late, GTR! What a phenomenal package
that is, all credit to its developers.

Two games I would like to use this wheel with and just can not get it
working are: Mobil 1 Rally Championship (this game seems to have a few
names - I mean the Magnetic Fields one) and NASCAR Legends (just for fun).
The one I really wish I could get to work is Rally Championship.

I can seem to get the wheel itself to work, but not the pedals. I either get
no response from them, or a totally screwy one (brakes always engaged, but
pressing the brake pedal adds throttle, etc. etc.). I mean, it doesn't look
to be rocket science to set this, but I just can't make it go.

I'm using Windows XP, if that is at all a factor, though I can't
particularly see why it would be. The game still operates normally on XP
aside from the wheel problem.

Any advice would be appreciated! I've hunted the Internet at large and
haven't found any useful help for this problem.

Thanks
Scott.

Just a thought, have you tried setting the wheel as "combined axis"?
Perhaps the game doesn't support split axis (I have the game but don't have
it installed currently so I can't check).

BTW, the combined setting is found under control panel>controllers (get into
the momo settings page and look for a "combined" check box).

I have an older MOMO, and it works fine with RC and WinXP. You do need the
latest patch for the game though. I believe the last one was called "patch
6" or something. There were problems early on with wheels and pedals if I
remember correctly.
Split axis also works with the latest patch.

The magnetic fields Rally title, Mobil One Rally Championship(in the
USA) or Championship Rallye 2000<I hope I have that right> should support
your wheel and pedals.  Make sure you have the offcial patch.  You may need
to use custome settings in the sim, but it 'shouldn't' be a problem.  Joe
probably is right in making sure you have the split axis setting working
inside windows first.
For N3 and just about any of the Papyrus sims, they have two input
options.  Usually the Logitech stuff uses Direct X.  Other wheels that have
trouble may work with the Papyrus Generic option.
Good Luck.
Let us know if it still is causing problems or if you get things working.

I am using Mobil 1 with Windows XP Pro and the new MOMO.  You have to set
the pedals to combined axis for the game menus to recognise the wheel and
pedals properly.  You can do that easily in the Wingman Profiler.

How did you guy's get Rally Championship to work? I installed it on my
lovely fast new XP Pro pc but when I get to the in game menu screen I just
can't control the menu at all.

It's quite a fun game and I'd love to play it again

I can't remember the details but there is a specific fix for the game using this Win XP application compatibility tool kit:

C:\Program Files\Windows Application Compatibility Toolkit\html\default.htm

I originally found the instructions via google but couldn't find the source this time; trust me it's out there. ;0)
