Which sim has the best sound?

I think:

1st place:    Cart Precision Racing
2nd place:   Nascar 2

The sound of GP2 is also pretty good and I'm pretty disappointed about the
sound of F1rs.

Other opinions?

TOCA has great in-car sounds - engine noise and rattling over rumble strips.

Erk, N2 placed higher than N1?! If speaking purely about car sounds
(engine, tyres etc) my placing would be ;

1) NASCAR 1
2) CPR
3) GP2
4) NASCAR 2

Cheers!

For all of its other faults, the best sound I've heard in a racing game has
to be the in-car of CART Precision Racing.

I was a little confused I think. I meant Nascar 1 to be at the 2nd place.

It's not *strictly* a sim, but TOCA touring cars has excellent sound,
the in-car rattles and bangs and creaks are Fantastic, just like a real
in car environment!!!!

I think that Need For Speed II sounds pretty good, especially how
there is are different sounds for different models.

Well, I may be shunned for this comment, but i really like Monster Truck
Madness 2 engine and chassis sounds. I guess its not reall a "sim" though..
but a worthy mention in my opinion. (really like the cows as well...

first of all nfs2 isnt a sim, and cart precision racing is pushing the sim
line. In tearms of realism, i'd rate them like this: GPL (demo only avail),
F1RS, NASCAR2, GP2, INDYCAR2/CART Racing, Cart Precision Racing.

Dear Peter, The question was which sim has the best sound, NOT which sim is the
most realistic.
I think that CPR has, by far, the best sound. TOCA is a good second, and the
GPL demo is third.

This is true about TOCA.  Sliding backwards across the grass after colliding
with a car is very realistic sounding.  Just like I read once, it sounds
like the world is coated in peptol bismal.

I think F1RS is better than MS CPR though I know that F1RS has been
panned with regard to sound.  (BTW, I am only commenting on the 'race
sound'....engines, cars, etc.).  Went to an Indy Car race last weekend
(at Texas Motor Speedway) and found that the high pitched 'whine' of
F1RS reminded me more of real racing than than MS CPR.  And, yeah, I
know that Formula 1 cars are different than Indy cars.  I've heard
both and still think that F1RS is better.  Don't know about NASCAR
1/2.

Dan,

What you may not know is that there is a difference between Indy cars which run
in the Indy Racing League (IRL) and Champ cars which run the Championship Auto
Racing Teams (CART) series.  At Texas you saw the IRL cars which are powered by
normally- aspirated Aurora or Infinity V8's which are based on production
engines and sound like an over rev'd Nascar engine to most people.  Champ cars
use turbocharged small displacement V8's which rev much higher than the IRL
engines and have a distinctive turbo whine.  I'm suprised you thought the large
displacement IRL engines were modeled well by F1RS.
