LWFF and their pots?

LWFF and their pots?

by Hans » Mon, 19 Jul 1999 04:00:00

I'm just wondering if anyone have checked them out.
I have always been able to fix/clean the pots of the wheels I've had
and thereby extended the wheels life and lowered the cost of repairs.
Are they straigtforward to keep in shape?

For me  the LWFF will cost about $250 so I need to know before I buy

Thanx in advance

Regards,
Hans

I have my Logitech Wingman FF in pices in front of me, so lets take a look
on the pot.

Its a 100k pot and seems to be of good quality, and not with some cheap
carbon sliders inside. Its almost completely made of metal, and have three
parallel sliders inside so I think it will last for a long time. And there
is a opening in the metal case, if you need to clean it sometime. It is also
of standard size with a 1/4" spindle, so it wont be to hard too replace when
its needed.

Thanx alot, Mauritz!

Have to know abit before I trow those money out :-)
So why have you taken the wheel apart?
Hope it's for connecting new pedals and not for anything else... :-)

No, dont worry it have not broken. :) I only explore the possibilities to
replace the plastic bushings with ball bearings. And it dont look
impossible.

Let me know if you have any success with this.

I really like the LWFF but I don't think the wheel turns as smoothly as it
could.

Oh that is good thinking,
Keep us informed, if you will

I will drop a message in this forum when I have finished the project. Right
now are one ball bearing on its place, and I will continue tomorrow with the
other three. Maybe can I do some test racing with the wheel in this weekend.

Exactly what I thought, and probably will real bearings make it better. But
I have noticed that the wheel turns more smoothly after a few hours use with
the standard bushings. It needs some time to break-in (Is it called that?)
before it gets better.
