CPR 1.0 Upgrade

by CART Te » Sun, 09 Nov 1997 04:00:00

As many of you have already guessed, we are hard at work on an upgrade to
address the top issues and requests that have been sent to us or posted
regarding CPR 1.0.

Watch this space for details soon - these changes are getting spec'd and
coded currently.

Thanks for the amazing feedback - and keep it coming.

I won't list the changes yet until I have the final confirmed list - I would
hate to imply that the patch will update something it doesn't.

But if you're really curious,  a quick scan of r.a.s. will cover it!

More news when I have the patch details confirmed.

: But if you're really curious,  a quick scan of r.a.s. will cover it!

How about including an oval track for the demo.  I'd like to see how it
handles on an oval as compared to a road course.  Most other demos have
been 1 oval/ 1 road course.

I didn't see Greg Cisko's posting - can someone pass it on?

Was he assuming that frame rate performance was not going to be in the
patch? On what basis?

The feedback from *everyone* is being considered - trial and GOLD users.

Should have some good news for you soon. Patch is going well.

fyi CPR should be on the shelves earlier than expected - perhaps as early as
this week.

Actually, all it says for sure (IMO) is that the issues the fellow
from MS'  licensee is  discussing (whatever they are) won't be
addressed in the first release version.

IOW, I think he's saying they're working on a patch that addresses
issues. Whether framerate is in it we'll have to see... though I'm not
optimistic, I don't think his posting that it's about to be released
quite decides the issue.

Getting it out now is dictated by the calendar approaching Christmas.
Which I understand... I'm to the point where I judge software releases
at the end of the year not by the release product, but by the patch,
if any,  as long as it's out relatively promptly.   And that doesn't
bother me *that* much.

The Uh oh is all that was in my post. Nothing startling :-) I believe the
gentleman I was replying to was asking if the framerate would be fixed
in the release version of the game. I claim that if it is being released
this early, the framerate issue will not be addressed when the game
is released, but rather in a later patch. i.e. typical.

BTW, I do like the trail version. I was able to get down to 1:12 so far.
I do like the way the car jumps on certain turns.

Ok... Let's see how close this list is, then:

1. Framerate improvement
2. Engine blow-ups added
3. Framerate improvement
4. Twitchy steering fix
5. Framerate improvement
6. An option to kill the pit auto-pilot
7. Framerate improvement
8. Brightness adjustment for cars/track
9. Framerate improvement
10. Computer car AI improvements
11. Framerate improvement
12. A way to toggle object textures (which would help
      improve the framerate)

How'd I do?? ;-)

About #2 on my list... I'm not what you'd call a serious "race
simmer" (I HAVE to use the shifting and braking help except
on ovals), but the engine not being able to blow up is a big
issue with me. It's not been discussed to much here, but I
think it will become a big issue when people get the full game
and really start playing. To me, that's one of the very basic
things in a SIMULATOR... I just don't understand how something
as basic that could be left out...

For what it's worth...

- Mike.
