MS FF problems

I just bought the MSFF usb version and my system keeps detecting 2 of
them.in my device manager the wheel shows up twice under the
sound,video and game controllers.when both are showing up,im not able
to open the joystick control panel.i tried removing one,but then it
dosent show up at all in the joystick control panel.i have had a ms
usb gamepad work fine.im running win 98.any suggestions would be
appreciated.

My MS sidewinder wheel shows two also in device manager, but it
doesn't  cause me any problems.

It's supposed to show 2 entries.  I think the other one is the virtual
keyboard driver for the programmable buttons.  They should both be there.

As for why you can't open the joystick control panel, I dunno, try
uninstalling and re-installing the drivers.  You haven't just installed
Colin McRae 2 have you, because it has probably with a few MS controllers.

it shows 2 entries for the wheel and also one for the virtual keyboard
under the keyboard devices.i uninstalled and reinstalled about 6 times
and still no luck.i can take it back to the store i bought it from.i
just was anxious to try a ff wheel.been using a tsw for 3 yrs.

Virtual keyboard is a seperate entry. That makes three for one device.
