It's interesting how much discussion has been raised around
F1 2000, isn't it.  Various racing sims arrive and are either
dismissed out-of-hand such as the Psygnosis games,Power F1,
Johnny Herbert, etc.  Then there are those that are undisputedly
"good" such as GP2 and GPL.

Then along comes F1 2000 which seems almost exactly split
between good and bad.  The fact that some people like it must mean
that it has some redeeming features but I suppose just doesn't
go far enough.

It makes it ***y difficult to decide whether it's worth getting
or not !

It's not really that hard. By reading both the negative and the positive
posts and taking note of what's done well and what's not, it was quite
easy for me to decide whether to get it or not.

I already spent about 20 hours with it, and I got it just before the
last weekend, so my decision was obviously a good one. It advances the
modern F1 sim concept in quite a few ways, but has a few issues, like no
telemetry (which I only used to keep my cars of the bumpstops in turns
in GP2). But I knew what I was getting, and I enjoy its good aspects
like the excellent driving model.

I don't like the fact that you apparently cannot save your GP
sessions in between sessions. I may not want to race the
same day as I qualify. I wonder if the world championship
must be completed in one sitting also :-)

Of course not, that would be stupid! You're allowed a 15 minute break
after race 9..... <g>

I think there's a hack to increase that to 20 minutes.....

I think that its far from being on the border line, seems to have a firm
foot on the GP2 and GPL side of the line to me.

Some niggly things in the game yes, but the physics are top rate!

Yes, had the same indecision myself but went ahead and bought it anyway a
few days ago. I am more than a little surprised how good the driving model
is. It has some shortcomings but no regrets here.
Cheers, Andrew.

I'd like it more if I could keep it from crashing my computer ...

At what point does it crash your computer? Is it the MSFF
crash?

When I go to a race of any kind. Swapped out my OEM 16mb Nvidia for a
Voodoo 3, problem solved.
