GP2 : Which track is your favorite practice course?

Hey racers,
Just wondering which courses you guys have enjoyed the most as far as
everyday, practice runs go.
I think that most people pick one or two tracks to learn the game on
and then play those tracks to death, becoming very accustomed to each
nuance in each turn.
Sort of like a 'home' track for each person.
It would be cool to find out what the 'home tracks are for you guys.
Sort of a sim demographic.
Me personally, I practice on the Magny Cours in France and San Marino
primarily.  They both have a decent assortment of turns, chicanes and
straits. (I've found that by doing this, I adapt to new tracks much
easier because I can relate certain turns to new ones.)
Just curious.
Btw in ICR2 my home track would have to be Elkhart Lake, I love every
corner as if I really lived there.
I need to get out more.

I liked San Marino in GP1.  But I just never got into GP2--no
interest.

In ICR2, most of the tracks are screwed up.  You'll be driving along
and all of a sudden the back end swings out--and it's almost always a
really weird slide.  You get put into a slide (that you can't get out
of) for longer than you should until you stop.  I don't know--just
never liked ICR2.  N1 rules (on my 486)

But my fav track has to be Portland.  It's a great track to try a hot
lap on.  But it's great to practice on a work on setups.

My favourite tracks are Interlagos (Brazil) and Imola (San Marino).
I think both circuits are very good for learning how to drive: fast and
slow corners, chicanes, and fast long straights. Also shows how
difficult it is to create a setup that works fine in slow corners and
long straights.

I hate to drive Monaco, but that is because my PC is to slow :-(

Greetings
I started at Portugal realizing that most drivers there practice in
the winter, and it is quite a challenging track! I've spent most of my
time there trying to set up the car, and only just recently got a good
setup. Now I feel I can go on!

It's true, that it is crucial to know one track well, and base your
car experiences on that, then on other circuits you are learning the
CIRCUIT, not the car.

Has to be Silverstone, Why?

Because I'm English, and its the only English track.

Because it's the track where I'm closest to the internet times, but my
fastest is still only 1:24:4  d:~(

Because it has great fast corners, Copse almost flat out, Abbey almost
flat out, and great series of bends at Maggotts and Becketts.

Because it has great slow corners, Priory, Brooklands and Luffield series
of bends.

Because it has great fast straights, Woodcote, Hanger and Farm.

Because it has variety, slowest speed around 75-80, fastest speed around
185mph,

Because you CAN overtake there, Because it was built to be a great
racetrack, and even though it has been altered to slow the cars down, it
is still a great racetrack.

There, Sorted.

PS: Monaco has to be the prettiest track, it has great scenery, and
Hockenheim the fastest, and the most boring due to those Loonnnnnggg
straights. Probably the most exciting to drive is Monza, another great
circuit? with plenty to keep the driver busy and thinking throughout the
whole lap.

Spa.

I have tweaked and tweaked and tweaked on that track, and have it very
fast.  It seems to suit my driving and setup style.

Brazil kicks my ass, though, my brain cannot fathom how to go really fast
there.... argh!

My favorite tracks are Spa and Imola.  But I try to practice on
whatever track is the next one in the series.  I love all of the
tracks.

Too bad GP2 doesn't have the current set of tracks.  Too bad
many of the tracks it does have aren't the same as they currently
are.  Too bad they changed Imola after Senna's terrible incident.
Prior to that that weekend, over a decade had passed with no F1
race driver fatalities, but I guess that's off topic.

   I love GP2, but I am a programmer, and I would never release a
complex project and then refuse to maintain it.  Too bad Starting
Grid isn't on the shelves yet.

Well,

I live 5 minutes from the Gilles Villeneuve circuit (Montral).  I love
this track not because of the way it is (It's pretty boring) but because
I go there so often that I'm feeling in my home.  For Icr2 it's
Milwaukee, great track, great fun, great setups.  And finally I love
making 200/300 practice laps at Dover in N1/N2.  Thanks a lot,

Good race at the Brickyard, (Old'Indytrack guy in rec.autos.simulators)

Thanks to you guys and your responses, I've been racing at Spa and
this track rocks!
Plenty of flat out areas (even uphill twists) and a ton of 3rd gear
sliding turns.
Great track.
(I'm used to Magny Cours and Imola)

For GP2, I'd have to say Monza and Suzuka. Monza, because It's what I
learned F1GP on, and I just like the track. Suzuka because I find all
the off-camber corners fun and challenging. I'd add Spa,but haven't
had time to get a real feel for it in GP2 yet.

For ICR2, Loudon (most laps), Laguna (challenge), and the converted
'Dega (Speed <g>). I'm usually lost on road courses, unfortunately.
Anybody know how to make the break markers Bigger? >;)

N1: 'Dega (Floor it 'til it blows up or they wave the checkers!), and
Bristol - yeah, I'm slow there, but it's just like driving in
Manhattan. >;)
