F1WGP Demo Promblems (need some help with controller)

by Hotd » Mon, 05 Jun 2000 04:00:00

Im trying the F1WGP demo and im haveing some trouble geting my MS USB
wheel set up as I would like it, trouble im haveing is the game locks
up when I try to set up some options in the joystick control settings
within the game, the cursor just freezes and I have to reboot, I have
seen others post about trouble setting up there controls in this game
and just wounderd if they had managed to get it figured out, I want to
set up my wheel with split axis also Im finding the low sensitivity
level is still a bit to high.

Also is there anyway to switch of that damm auto head turning in to
the corners, I hate it, other than that im starting to like the game,
while not as graphicly nice as F1 2000, the AI sure know how to race
better then they do in F1 2000, and to be honest I race these games to
race against others cars, not look at the pretty stuff going by. Also
the tracks look much wider than in F1 2000

On my computer F1GWP runs great in sunny race with 21 cars on and me
at the back in 1024x768 with most details at high, where F1 2000 was a
slide show at 10-12 FPS untill things had thinned out abit.

The head panning thing can be annoying. When you get out on the track press
the "insert" button on the keyboard ( button above "end" on my keyboard
anyway) and it will display the words "no effect" on the screen, It is now
disabled. This button will cycle through the various options available
related to that.
With regards to controller setup, this took me a while to set up mine and I
had similar problems with locking up while trying to program it.
I know I uninstalled then reinstalled my wheel and recalibrated a couple of
times generally just kept trying and eventually got it going good. When I
calibrated my pedals in the game, the accelerator pushed the bar all the way
up nicely and I then clicked enter but the brake bar flickered when
calibrating it. Make sure that you press your pedal down firmly and hold it
there , then try and press enter when it is as near maximum as possible. The
brakes where then ok for me no locking up etc..  and the low sensitivity
setting suited my controller well.
Sorry can`t be more help but hope you get it sorted.

Snake.

Thanks Snake, got it turned of the head panning and im finding it much
better now, but as for the controler well it still freezes on me after
I have reinstalled everything twice.

Anway just a few thoughts, anyone finding the demo much more fun in
arcade mode, it seems the spins are very much canned in simulation
mode to me but the arcade mode spins are not, I have even managed to
hang the rear of the car out in arcade mode and correct it like in
GPL, but in sim mode this results in a spin. I also like the in car
views too the one inside the helmet and the GPL wide vision view is
really nice the feeling of speed in the GPL style wide vision one is
great.

One bug I have found though is in multiplayer, if you have a lan card
installed on your machine and you have a IP assigned to it when you
pick TCP/IP the game wont pick up on the IP address asigned to you by
your ISP it picks the one on your network card.

Other than that im playing the demo much more than F1 2000 now, mainly
due to the ***AI in F1 2000.

spoke:

Only 9 cars finished Monaco today. Last year it was 8. I bet in F1WGP
they all finish.
