Anyone notice any difference in the graphics at the Dover track compaired to
the other tracks in N4 . After a while the graphics get jerky etc , no big
jump in FPS  but very different than the other tracks . I first noticed this
in a online race and thought it was just the connection, then started
working off line on my setup and there also .

I think this happens if the draw ahead is too high. At the shorter tacks
like Dover, Richmond, Bristol, etc you can have it very low no matter how
great your computer is. I usually have these at 25% or less. At the bigger
tracks I bump it up. I'm not sure exactly what's going on, but I'll bet your
computer is trying to draw stuff that's so far off in distance it's
ridiculous and it's causing a jerk. I've noticed I don't have this problem
with the draw ahead set low.

Actually, my AMD1.3G 256MB DDR, V5, 800x600 2xFSAA runs with everything
maxed (except mirror at 25%) at 25-45fps.  With 25fps behind a full pack
of 42 drawn cars.  The only problem with Richmond is the cautions ;)
(Sorry inside joke).

Jason.

I think I might have found a fix for my problem . I am running a GeForce 2
MX and changed some setting in my Bios and ran a offline race at Dover and
no jerking . I changed my settings per the second url
By the way my comuter is a ABIT KT7A and AMD Duron 600 O/C to 1GHZ
7.5 x 133 FSB = 1000 mhz and 256 mb of 133 ram

Thanks guys K_Brown

This is probably an issue with the v-card rendering hidden surfaces.  Thus,
3DFX attempted to correct this with HSR (Hidden Surface Removal) which could
be enabled in driver versions 1.07 and higher (I believe).  I wasn't aware
this was a big issue in the GF2 line....but since I'm running both cards now
for the last couple of weeks....their "features" and characteristics are
starting to "blend" in my mind.  ...lol....  Maybe somebody running a
V5...and 1.07 or 1.08 drivers.....could try enabling HSR  in the video
properties Advanced tab.......and see if this corrects the hit to the FPS?
Then...watch out for what it might***up.....because I don't believe it
was fully developed by 3dfx before they went tits-up.

P4-1.4, GF2 Ultra 1600x1200x16 everything all the way up reflections off. 36
fps behind 43 cars on front stretch at martinsville, 60 fps elsewhere.  I'm
getting 70fps+ at 1280x960.
Whats your 1.33's temp? I have yet to see over 109*F on the P4. My
friend is complaining about his 1.33's temp.

It used to get to 66C and the system would auto shutoff.  I bought 3
fans for the case and now it sees about 56C under heavy load.  That's
definately over 109F but I don't overclock and it's working great.

I put one in-bound fan in the front of my case, one out-bound fan just
under the P/S and, one out-bound fan over the P/S.  Some cases don't
have a fan slot under the P/S so he might need to go with some slot-fan.
