Hi,

I am new to Nascar Racing and i can do pretty well at a place like
Talledaga since there is no braking involved.  My question is about
Dover Downs tracks in that when going around the corner, what should my
speed be at?  I am using a joystick and right now I have a button as
the acceleration and another button as the braking.  Should I have
pusing forward on the stick as acceleration? When I am going around a
corner should I gas it, then brake and do that throughout the turn or
should I try coasting and then gas it? All help appreciated. Thx

I am no expert at using the joystick, but the trick to getting around is
smoothness.  Work on getting into and through the apex of the corner
with your car set up to get back into the power coming out.  This is
usually where the go lap times come from.  Having the car setup to
hit the power as early as possible coming out of the turns.

Scott-
I found that when using the joystick, the buttons work the best for
gas and brake.  Setting forward and back to gas and brake, respectively,
was too much to controll.  Smoothness is the most important factor in
controlling your car, and I found it too difficult to maintain steering
controll while accellerating and braking with the same stick.  Also,
there may be times when you want to stay on the gas, but tap the brake
(eg. in traffic), and this is hard to do when you have to push forward
and pull back at the same time.:)

Happy Motoring!
