Voodoo5 and N4

To anyone who runs N4 with a Voodoo5 card, What settings do you have the
card set at to get best performance?  For example, FSAA level, screen
resolution and color depth, D3D vs Open GL, etc.  Also, what graphics
options do you have set (or off) within N4 for best performance?

I'm looking to find a good balance between frame rate and eye candy.

I have a Celeron 566 o'ced to 850 with 256 Megs RAM, if that helps any.

Thanks for your input.

800/600 16 2x works fine for me, D3D.  Open GL gave me bad frame rates. I
havent seen a big delta in the 16 and 32 bit

I'm still on dx7a (don't want to mess up another game that doesn't like
dx8). Game works fine.  I get CTD every now and then but not bad.

Amd 1.2 g, V5, sb live, 256 meg

Greetings!

FWIW, I run 1024x768x16 x 2xAA, LOD at -1.5 (sharper) and get high 20s
to high 40's.  I have world detail fairly high, with drawing distance
midway.  Cars ahead = 15, behind = 3.  All effects are on.

I get high 20's (tollerable) to high 40's (sweet), dependiong on the
view and action level.  Big wrecks can drag me to the low 20's were
things get choppy and ugly.  I drop the fwd cars to about 10 for online
racin', this keeps me in the high 20's.

Tbird 850 at 950 (112x8.5) [ All it's good for :( ] with 145 MHz RAM
bus.
The V5 is OC'd a bit, running at 178 MHz.

This is purely subjective... play around and see what you like.
Get the latest drivers, they seem to be worth a few frames....

Thanks for your advice, Glenn.

You're right that there's a big difference in frame rates between Open GL and
D3D.  I was getting only 12-15fps with OpenGL, and now I get 45-50 fps with
D3D, with your settings.

Thanks.
Bert
