I was hammering around Hockenheim on F1GP last night when I actually looked at
some of the scenery flying past. Got me to thinking that it is really only
the track, kerbs, walls and cars that need to be hi-res for helping to judge
speed and distances. I wouldn't mind at all if the trees and stands, etc were
lower res.
Surely it wouldn't be too hard to come up with some sort of clever algorithm
for coarse detail on most of the screen. This or course assumes the thing is
processor bound not video-bus bound.
Is this idea completely barmy and if not why has no-one done it?
