GPL - stuck at 25fps??

by Jeff » Sun, 18 Jun 2000 04:00:00

Hi,
     with my old TNT1 board running 2.08 drivers on Win 95 I could hit 36fps
on GPL (Normal running around, a few tweaks to the graphics settings on
1024*768 using OpenGL patch)

Now I've got a TNT2 ultra with the same 2.08 drivers (Ive also tried 3.53)
and Win98 I cannot
get above 26-27fps, no matter what tweaks I try, in fact the things I have
tried seem to make no difference at all which is odd?

Am I missing something obvious, and is there a way to get the new 5.22
drivers to work woth GPL? - I've tried them and get a wierd quarter screen
type result.

Any advice much appreciated.

Jeff, you need to either raise the refresh rate on your monitor, to 75hz, or
greater, or  find a 'disable vsync' or 'don't sync buffer swaps to monitor
refresh rate' setting in your video cards preferences, probably in Win98
control panel / display. This will most likely cure your problem.

The settings may have gotten reset when you changed cards.

Good luck.

GPL - stuck at 25fps??

Sounds like you may be missing the following section of the core.ini as
without it you'd be stuck at about 25fps no matter what you did:
[ Int Profile Values ]
value0 = OpenGL:TossHighestMip:0                ; do not change
value1 = OpenGL:MipFiltering:0                  ; do not change
value2 = OpenGL:MirrorsEvery:0                  ; do not change
