GPL Stick and Keyboard times

Are there any other crazies out there that drive GPL with only a stick
and keyboard( to brake and throttle), no pedals?  My wife can't
understand why a 37 year old man has to buy a ff wheel and pedals, but
then she's never driven GPL!  But before i plunk down the bucks to buy
them, I need to know if it will be worth it.  My current times for Monza
are 1'32'' and about 1'10 for Watkins Glen.  Will getting the ff wheel
help enough so I can finally beat Clark? Thanks!

I just use a joystick accelerating / brake y axis, gears buttons 1& 2.
I think the wheel does not improve the performance, but more the feel  which
is really more important. Especially as it is a simulation.
Maybe your wife beating you with a rolling pin after crashing would improve
the sim effect and solve both your problems.

I'm also using only a Joystick with acceleration/brake on the y-axis, and it
works good for me, I have 1:05 times at the Glen, but I will definately buy
a wheel soon.

I use a joystick for GPL - joystick for steering, buttons for gas and brake,
with automatic shifting turned on.   My best time so far at Monza is 1:30.22,
using an Eagle chassis.   I usually average about 1:30.65 in race trim.   :)
